Graphs in R / Aesthetics in ggplot2

ggplot2 – the aes() element in ggplot

The aim is to have a clear plot of your data.

Here some examples :

Plots with a clear output

Plot 1,2,3, 6 and 11

Plots with confusing elements

Plot 5 – no difference in shape between the cylinders

Plot 7 – bordercolor of the datapoints for gear is barely visible (0/1)

Plot 8 – Size is not a good measure to use for discrete values

Plot 9 – Difference in opacity is only visible between for 4-cylinders.

Plot 10 – Difference in shape is not visible enough, overlapping
